UltraVision Delighted with New Silicone Hydrogel Multifocal

March 2008.

Contact lens manufacturer, UltraVision, is delighted with the excellent feedback received following the recent launch of its Silicone Hydrogel Multifocal contact lens. HydroWave®, a lathe-cut 3-monthly contact lens, is manufactured in the new 74% Silicone Hydrogel material, Definitive™ from Contamac, and is available in both Multifocal Sphere and Multifocal Toric forms.

The HydroWave® Multifocal lenses can be purchased as a single lens (with a 90 day fitting warranty included in the price) and in multi-packs of 2 lenses or 4 lenses, for each eye.  The available parameter range is extensive, with spheres from +30.00DS to -30.00DS, cyls up to -11.00DC, axes of 1° to 180° and reading adds of up to +3.00, thereby allowing any combination of base curve, diameter and powers to be selected.

The new Definitive™ Silicone Hydrogel material is naturally hydrophilic, delivering greater comfort and longer wearing times than conventional soft lens materials. With a Dk of 60, and very high water retention properties, this material provides a more healthy and comfortable lens for the eye, and is ideally suited to the Presbyopic patient, even in dry conditions.  UltraVision has received some very positive feedback from practitioners and wearers of the lens, particularly from wearers who have, in the past, been unable to wear contact lenses all day.

HydroWave® also incorporates UltraVision's award-winning Wavefront and SAM® technologies, providing enhanced visual acuity and comfort.  The Queen's Awards for Enterprise: Innovation 2006 was awarded for both of these technologies.

HydroWave® is also available in single vision Sphere and Toric forms.  If you would like further information on the new Multifocal, or any other UltraVision Silicone Hydrogel products, please contact UltraVision's Clinical Services Advisor, Josie Barlow or speak to any one of the friendly Customer Service team on 0800 585115.
