UltraVision CEO announces FDA approval during Queen’s Awards Presentation

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, the most prestigious award for a UK business, was bestowed upon UltraVision in April this year, specifically for KeraSoft®; a patented soft contact lens for Irregular Corneas and Keratoconus.

The official presentation by Her Majesty’s representative, Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Sir Samuel Whitbread KCVO JP, took place today at UltraVision’s Head Office in Leighton Buzzard.  All UltraVision staff members attended, along with guests from the optical profession and community leaders.  Sir Samuel Whitbread presented the Company with an official scroll, signed by Her Majesty The Queen and Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister at the time the award was given.

UltraVision CLPL Receives Royal Accolade

A reception at Buckingham Palace with Her Majesty The Queen and H.R.H The Duke of Edinburgh is a rare event.  J Keith Lomas, Group CEO, and John Clamp, Group COO, attended for a second time as UltraVision CLPL was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise - Innovation 2010.

This most prestigious award was specifically for KeraSoft®; a patented soft contact lens for Irregular Corneas and Keratoconus.  UltraVision received its first Queen's Award in 2006 for UltraWave® and SAM® technologies.

An official presentation by Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Sir Samuel Whitbread KCVO JP, will take place in November at UltraVision's Head Office in Leighton Buzzard.  All staff members are invited, along with guests from the optical profession and community leaders.

'To receive the Queen's Award once is a serious achievement, but twice is out of this world' said Lomas. 'We were improving people's vision but now our team is taking our technologies to new levels and dramatically changing lives for the better'.

Life-Changing Lens Showcased at BCLA

UltraVision was delighted with the large number of visitors to their stand at the BCLA this weekend. KeraSoft IC, the new soft contact lens for all irregular corneas generated most interest. Folllowing Cristina Kenney’s lecture on Friday morning, practitioners wanted to know all about how KeraSoft IC can provide their irregular and keratoconic patients with a healthy alternative to RGP lenses.

Online Ordering Increases Patient Satisfaction

Contact lens manufacturer UltraVision initially launched its online ordering system in 2008, and online orders have accelerated recently, growing by over 500% in the last year alone. The bespoke system allows registered practitioners in the UK and worldwide to place and track their contact lenses orders via the Internet, 24 hours a day.

Designed in-house by James Deane, Web Development Manager, and Klas Lindgren, CL Research & Development Engineer, the online ordering system is directly linked to UltraVision’s manufacturing system, enabling orders to be processed automatically into the manufacturing laboratory for a rapid turnaround.
