Keith Lomas

  Keith Lomas has more than sixteen years senior management experience in both small and medium sized entrepreneurial and extensive multinational companies. Keith was appointed Managing Director of CLPL in 1996. After leading the successful acquisition of UltraVision International in 2003, Keith was appointed as Group President and CEO. Prior to his involvement in the contact lens world, Keith was an investment banker in the City of London. He worked at S.G. Warburg, Kleinwort Benson and Daiwa Europe. Whilst based in the City, Keith had global responsibility for multi-billion dollar risk portfolios. Keith is also an active investor in other technology start-up companies and is a Director of Ubisense Ltd.

 

John Clamp, Group Vice-President & COO

John Clamp

  From a family of Optometrists, John Clamp joined CLPL in 1993 to implement a full quality system to meet future regulatory CE requirements and was appointed to the Board in 1996. John has been Vice-President, European Federation of the Contact Lens Industry (EFCLIN) and was previously Treasurer of EFCLIN. Formerly, John was a research engineer in a number of entrepreneurial companies, developing innovative technologies. With a number of patents to his name, John also qualified with B.Eng.(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds. John is responsible for all Research & Development and technology within the group. John is also an active technology investor.

 

Mark Diskin, Director

Mark Diskin has co-founded a number of companies since 1971 including Alta Berkeley Venture Partners, a European venture capital firm that specialises in providing venture capital for the healthcare, IT and media sectors. Having been an independent consultant since 1988, Mark has considerable experience in assisting with the growth of private companies. Currently he is a non-executive director and/or chairman of several private companies both in the UK and abroad. He has been a director of CLPL since 2000. Mark graduated with a B. Comm. from the University of Cape Town and an M.B.A from Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, Dartmouth College, USA. He is a Chartered Accountant and has worked for Peat Marwick Mitchell, London and The Singer Company, New York.

 

David Harper, Director

David Harper has spent over 30 years in the semiconductor industry performing sales, marketing and general management roles in both Europe and the USA. These include positions as VP of European Operations for 8x8 Inc (NASDAQ), CEO of Dialog Semiconductor Plc (NASDAQ) and VP of International Sales and Strategic Marketing at Enable Semiconductor Inc. As well as his role with CLPL, he is currently on the Advisory Board of IVC Venture Capital AG, and Chairman of www.flytxt.com. David holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from UMIST.

 

Richard G Newell, Director

Dick Newell has spent over 35 years in the software industry in Computer-aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He co-founded his first company, Cambridge Interactive Systems Ltd. (CIS) in 1977. CIS was part of what became known as 'The Cambridge Phenomenon'. Dick co-founded, Smallworld Systems in 1988. The company was successfully floated, on NASDAQ in 1996 and was subsequently sold to General Electric Corporation (GE) in 2000. Dick held the position of Chairman of both CIS and Smallworld Systems. Dick has had prior board experience at Warner Technology Ltd., Prion Ltd. and as a council member of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and is a Director of Ubisense Ltd. Dick holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Numerical Analysis and a PhD in Chemical Engineering.
